Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. AR Denarius (18mm, 3.12 g, 12h). Uncertain eastern mint. 4th emission, AD 223. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Pietas standing left, holding box and dropping incense over lighted altar to left. RIC IV 293; BMCRE 10058-1060; RSC 196; McAlee Collection 225a (all examples in finer style). Toned. VF.

Though RIC gives the eastern issues of Severus Alexander to Antioch, BMCRE notes that there were likely multiple mints striking in the region. The present coins is a lovely example of a style that is most reminiscent of the issues of Caesarea Eusebia.
