Russia 1810 P-A10x PCGS Very Fine 35 25 Rubles (Contemporary Counterfeit)A fascinating and historical item. This is a Napoleonic counterfeit meant to undermine the Russian economy during the invasion of Napoleon Bonaparte. Printed in large numbers, they are considerable more common than the genuine issue, but due to their historical importance are avidly collected by a wide variety of collectors. The counterfeits are identified by a different kind of paper compared to the genuine issue and various differences in the text, explained by the simple fact that the engravers of the counterfeit plates did not master the Russian language. The signatures are also printed instead of handsigned. PCGS mentions "Small edge tear at right".
