Sweden, Karl X Gustav SM 25 1 mark 1658. 4.79 g. Stockholm. Obverse field lightly cleaned. Small scratches. Else an unusually attractive example of this scarce type. RR. Of Karl X Gustav 1 mark 1658 we know of this example and an additional five in private hands. Ex Bonde 2008, part 3, lot 347. Ex Israël Berghmans duplicates, T. G. Appelgren auction October 1918, lot 64. SMB 21. The 1 mark coinage of Karl X Gustav has always been one of the most scarce type coins of the 17th Century Swedish coinage. Thence they have been highly regarded by collectors. For example we can mention that when Martin Andersson's collection (Boberg auction 17, lot 386) was sold the 1 mark brought 330 SEK in 1930. For price comparison it can be noted that at the same auction the 10 mark gold klippe 1626 of Gustav II Adolf was hammered at 420 SEK! Without this provenance mentioned this same example was sold at Misab auction 36, lot 170, at 230 000 SEK+%! 1+
