The coinage of this series was at the time called "Görtzens karoliner"(Carolins of Görtz) as opposed to "Görtzens gudar" (God's of Görtz) which referred to the emergency coinage in copper with denomination 1 daler S.M. "Görtz" refers to Georg Heinrich von Görtz (1668-1719), head of the Procurement Deputation (Upphandlingsdeputationen). This government agency was tasked with strenghtening the economy of Sweden, which was in arrears as a consequence of lengthy and wars of King Karl XII. 1/1+
