Sweden, Erik XIV SM 25 1 mark 1565 11.42 g. Stockholm. Type with Danish leopards in reverse Coat-of-Arms. When this example was last sold the following was noted in the auction catalogue: "Of this very scarce date we know of four examples. 1. This example 2. Ex Bonde auction 5, lot 165 3. Ex C. O. Algård (Ahlström auction 4, lot 69) 4. Ex. S. Svensson (SS 1227), not yet sold. One example was included in Oldenburgs collection sold at Bukowski auction 113, lot 621. The hammer price indicates that the grade was very low. It is thus quite possible to be identic with the example listed as number 3 above. In addition to these privately owned examples Stiernstedt had one, which was bought by Antell and today is housed in the National Museum of Finland, Helsinki". Since the previous offering of this example we can note that Svensson's example (number 4) has consequently been donated by The Swedish Numismatic Association to The Swedish Royal Coin Cabinet. It cannot be excluded that further examples may be in private hands. Insignificant residue and planchet cracks. RR. Ex Nils J. Lindberg, Misab auction 19, lot 86. Ex Holmasto auction March 1998. SMB 36. 1+/01
