KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 16 mm, 8.50 g, 12 h), Sidon (or possibly Ake or Damascus), undated, c. 333-305 (or c. 333-330). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with a griffin leaping right, single-pendant earring, and necklace. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand and cradling stylis in left arm; to right, caduceus. Price 3458. Clear and well-centered. Some minor marks and struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, good very fine.
