LYCAONIA. Laranda. Circa 324/3 BC. Obol (Silver, 10 mm, 0.76 g, 3 h). Baal seated left, holding grain ear and grape bunch in extended right hand, scepter with his left. Rev. Forepart of wolf right; above, downwards pointing crescent; all within dotted square border. Göktürk 82. SNG BN 443 (Cilicia). SNG Levante 223 (Cilicia). Good very fine.
Based on site finds, Göktürk identified the mint for these relatively common fractions featuring Baal and a wolf as Laranda in Lycaonia. Previously they were thought to come from an unidentified mint in Cilicia (see, op. cit., the citations to both SNG BN and SNG Levante above).
