KINGS OF SOPHENE. Mithradates II Philopator, ca. 89 - after 85 BC. Dichalkon (Bronze, 15 mm, 2.84 g, 12 h), with a countermark of Mithradates II (!!), Arkathiokerta (?). Diademed head of Mithradates II to right, wearing bashlyk; behind head, countermark MIΘ in a rectangular indent (Kovacs 22). Rev. BACI MIΘΡ Club. ACV -. CSC -. Kovacs 34 ( for countermark, Kovacs 22). An extremely rare type and apparently unpublished prior to Kovacs in 2016. Very fine.
