LYDIA. Philadelphia. Trajan, 98-117. (Bronze, 22 mm, 3.51 g, 12 h), I. Severianos. [ ]ΝE ΤΡΑ-ΚΑΙCΑΡ[ ] Laureate head of Trajan to right. Rev. ΕΠΙ Ι CΕΒΗΡΙ ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛ[ ] Isis in long chiton standing left, holding sistrum in her right hand, resting with her left hand on sceptre. RPC III 2375.1 (this coin illustrated). GRPC 244 (this coin illustrated). Extremely rare. The finest of two known examples. Well centered and nicely struck. Nearly very fine.

Philadelphia is a Biblical city mentioned in Revelation 3. John wrote to the church in Philadelphia towards the end of the reign of Domitian. This coin was struck shortly after the church in Philadelphia received that letter.
