Commercial Weights. Circa 4th - 6th century. Weight of 1-nomisma (Bronze, inlaid with silver, 11.2 x 11 mm, 4.30 g), square commercial weight with plain edges. Engraved large letter N with small letter O above; surrounded by a border made up of triangles strung together. cf. Corpus Ponderum Antiquorum, Turkey 3.2, 404. cf. Dürr 157-170. Very fine.

While 1-nomisma weights from the late Roman / early Byzantine period are quite common, this piece stands out due to the elaborate composition of the obverse, especially the border made of triangles strung together.
