The church of Theotokos Kyriotissa was located in Constantinople near the east end of the Aqueduct of Valens. After the conquest of Constantinople by the Crusaders, the church was the base of the Franciscan community. Today it is a mosque like most of the major churches of Constantinople. Not many seals have survived with the depiction of Theotokos Kyriotissa, and it is very probable that the owner of this seal was a monk in the church of Theotokos Kyriotissa in Constantinople.
