SHAYBANID: Unknown governor, fl. 1599-1600, AV 1/12 mohur (0.85g), [Badakhshan], ND, A-3007H, same obverse die as Lot 2246 in our Auction 41, reverse in concave octagram, VF, RR. In the name of the long-deceased Mughal Abu'l-Muzaffar Humayun, who died in AH963, but this type is identical to the late issues of the Shaybanid 'Abd Allah II and Abu'l-Mu'min, who died in AH1007. This type is known clearly dated AH1008 (Zeno-156424/425), 45 years after the death of Humayun. The actual governor at Badakhshan remains to be identified. These are stylistically entirely different from the actual Badakhshan gold coins of the live Humayun, which also follow a different standard.
