GREEK COINS
Thessaly

Larissa. Circa 356-342 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18mm, 6.11 g 9). Head of the nymph Larissa facing, turned slightly to the left, wearing ampyx, pendant earring, and simple necklace. Rev. ΛΑΡΙΣ / ΑΙΩΝ Horse to right, preparing to roll over; below, plant. Herrmann pl. V, 12 var. Lorber, 2008 61 var. Attractive and sharp. Good extremely fine and virtually as struck.

From a northern European collection.

The interesting thing about this issue with the plant is that most of the known examples seem to be struck from the same reverse die as the one used here, but from a different obverse die. That obverse shows five curls of hair on the right side of Larissa's head, while this has only four.
