Athens. Circa 449-404 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25mm, 16.61 g 10), c. 440. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with three olive leaves and palmette, round earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing right, head facing; behind, olive spray and crescent moon; all within incuse square. Starr pl. XXII, 2. Svoronos pl. 13, 21 ff. An elegant coin struck on a broad flan, and with a beautifully centered obverse. Some surface roughness and scuffs, especially on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine/good very fine.
