Syracuse. Philistis, wife of Hieron II. 275-215 BC. 16 Litrai (Silver, 25mm, 13.59 g 4), 218/7-214. Diademed and veiled bust of Philistis to left; behind, star of six points. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΙΣΣΑΣ ΦΙΛΙΣΤΙΔΟΣ Nike driving quadriga moving slowly to right; above, eight-pointed star; to right, Κ . SNG ANS 881. A very attractive, sharply struck and nicely toned example. Minor die fault on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
