Alexander III 'the Great'. 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 17mm, 8.60 g 12), struck during the rule of Philip III Arrhidaios, Sardes, c. 323-317. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with serpent. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Nike standing left, holding wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to left, ΤΙ within wreath; below wing, ivy leaf. Price 2608. About extremely fine.
