Charles I (1625-49), Newark Shilling, Siege piece of the English Civil War, 1646, Royal crown, C to left, R to right, value below in Roman numerals, beaded border both sides. Rev, three line inscription with date, OBS: / NEWARKE / 16456, weight 5.94g (S.3143; N.2640; Brooker 1225). Well struck both sides with some weakness in the 'OBS' part of legend, few markings on the southern point of the reverse. A pleasing example, good very fine for issue, rare.
