fleury on obverse, plain cross on reverse, facing crowned bust within double tressure of nine arcs, fleurs
on cusps, leaf on breast, saltire stops, legend surrounding +HENRIC DI GRΛ REX ΛNGL Z FRΛNC.
Rev, long cross fourchée, trefoil of pellets in angles, reads +POSVI DEVM Λ DIVTOR E MEVM, inner
script CIVITΛS LONDON, leaf and trefoil stops, 3.80g (S.1897; N.1484; crosses IIIb/V). Handsome cabinet
toning across both sides, small die fl aw running from the obverse mint mark to the right hand side of crown, few
die breaks. Flan marginally ragged at 6 o’clock. A well-proportioned and concise portrait, mintmarks distinct both
sides, legends in the main clear with few soft spots. Rev, underlying mint brilliance, comprehensive legends, with
clear leaf and trefoil markings. Good very fine, well provenanced.
