James I (1603-25), Shilling, second coinage (1604-19), third crowned bust right, with square cut beard, value behind, mintmark Rose (1605-06) both sides, legend surrounds IACOBVS DG MAG BRIT FRA FRA ET HIB REX. Rev, square topped quartered shield of arms, reads QVAE DEVS CONIVNXIT NEMO SEPARET, 6.01g (S.2654; N.2099). Light grey toning with clear fields and an adequate portrait. Reverse, well detailed with a deposit in the first quarter of the coat of arms, legends both sides intelligible. Bold fine, reverse better.
