James I (1603-25), Shilling, third coinage (1619-25), sixth large crowned bust right, value behind, mintmark thistle (1621-23) both sides, legend surrounds IACOBVS DG MAG BRI FRA ET HIB REX. Rev, square topped quartered shield of arms, reads QVAE DEVS CONIVNXIT NEMO SEPARET, 5.85g (S.2668; N.2124). Well struck on an almost symmetrical flan, portrait showing impressive detail with clear legends both sides, some toning spots, an impurity in the metal in the field at 3 o'clock. Once cleaned, otherwise very fine.
Bought Michael Trenerry (dealer), with ticket.
