Charles I (1625-49), Halfcrown, Tower Mint, group 2a, King on horseback left, sword resting on shoulder, mintmark rose both sides (1631-32), legend surrounds CAROLVS DG MAG BR FR ET HI REX. Rev, oval scroll garnished shield of arms, small C and R. either side of lis on top of shield, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO, 14.69g (S.2769; N.2205; cf Brooker 306). Toned on good metal, well detailed especially in the horse housings and the obverse mintmark, legends clear with a little distortion in part of the King's name in the OL of Carolus, some wear in the Kings profile. Good very fine, scarce, well struck.
