Charles I (1625-1649), Halfcrown, 1642, Oxford mint, mintmark Oxford plume on obverse only, Shrewsbury horseman, King on horseback flowing sash from waist, no groundline, Oxford plume behind, legend surrounds CAROLVS DG MAG BRIT FRAN ET HI REX. Rev, three Oxford plumes above, Declaration in two lines, reading 'RELIG PROT LEG ANG LIBER PAR', colon stops in legends, outer script reads EXVRGAT DEVS DISSIPENTVR INIMICI, date below, 15.03g (S.2953; N.2412; Bull 594/3; Morr. F-3; Brooker 882). Some light flan flaws, cabinet toning, nicely detailed in the King and horse. Rev, declaration, date and the three plumes boldly struck, few metal fissures from initial strike. Near very fine, the reverse better, rare.
