Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, Tower Mint, Group D, fourth bust type 3a, no inner circles, double arched crown left, value in field behind, mintmark crown/ crown over bell on rev, legend surrounds CAROLVS DG MA BR FR ET HI REX. Rev, oval shield garnished quartered shield of arms in frame, no CR either side, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO 6.02g (S.2791; N.2225; Sharp E2/1; Brooker 494). Cabinet toning, well detailed in the portrait and legends, the reverse slightly off centre. Some weaknesses, bold fine to near very fine.
