Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, Tower Mint, Group D, fourth bust type 3a, no inner circles, double arched crown left, value in field behind, mintmark bell, legend surrounds CAROLVS DG MA BR FR ET HI REX. Rev, oval shield garnished quartered shield of arms in frame, no CR either side, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO 6.00g (S.2791; N.2225; Sharp E1/1; Brooker 486-88). Light tone with clear legends and mintmarks both sides, portrait showing up all the main lines, a little soft in strike. Rev, well struck. Very fine.
