Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, Tower Mint, Group F, 'Briot' large bust left with stellate lace collar, double arched crown, type 4.4, inner circles, value in field behind, mintmark triangle, legend surrounds CAROLVS DG MAG BRI FRA ET HIB REX. Rev, square topped quartered shield of arms over cross moline, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO 6.01g (S.2799; N.2231; Sharp G1/2; cf. Brooker 545). Dark amber maroon toning, set out on a broad yet slightly ragged ?an. Comprehensive detail in the portrait with generally legible legends. Reverse, a little blocky in the shield with clear fields. Very fine.
