Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, Tower Mint, Group F, 'Briot' large bust left with stellate lace collar, double arched crown, type 4.4, inner circles, value in field behind, mintmark star, legend surrounds CAROLVS DG MAG BRI FRA ET HI REX. Rev, square topped quartered shield of arms over cross moline, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO 6.08g (S.2799; N.2231; Sharp G1/2; Brooker 548). Lightly toned with clear legends, some soft spots, the portrait displaying fine detail in the Kings hair, some obverse annealing flaws. Rev, pleasing coat of arms, a little dished in parts of legends. Good very fine.
