Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, Tower mint under Parliament, Group F, type 4.4, sixth crowned bust left, stellate lace collar, double arched crown, large value XII in field behind, unclear mintmarks, legend reads CAROLVS DG MAG BRI; FRA ET HIB REX. Rev, square topped quartered shield of arms over cross moline, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO, 6.14g (S.2800; N.2232). A pleasing example with light toning and original mint bloom, slight dishing and a ragged edge at the eastern perimeter of the coin. Fine, the portrait better. An academic example.
