Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, Tower mint under Parliament, Group G, type 4.6, seventh shorter and older bust in better proportion, double arched crown left, value XII in field behind, mintmark sceptre, legend reads CAROLVS DG MAG BRI FRA ET HIB REX. Rev, square topped quartered shield of arms over cross moline, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO, 5.80g (S.2803; N.2234; Sharp H2/2; Brooker 567). Light cabinet toning, darker around the periphery, legends legible both sides. Portrait displaying some good detail, the dies a little blocky or worn, two patches of weakness in the reverse shield. About very fine for issue.
With some of the collectors tickets. Noted on the reverse of one as bought 'Baldwins'.
