Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, Nicholas Briot's second milled issue (1638-1639), crowned bust left, value in field behind, crown breaks inner beaded circle surrounding, mintmark anchor and B both sides, lozenges stops in legend, reads CAROLVS DG MAG BRIT FR ET HIB REX. Rev, long cross fourchée over quartered shield of arms, lozenge stops in legend, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO, 5.67g (S.2859; N.2305; Brooker 725-8). A highly collected type within the milled realm of Charles I. Good fine for type, toned, with all the main details in place, set out on a fully rounded flan. Some obverse toning spots.
