Charles I (1625-49), Sixpence, 1626, Tower mint, Group D, fourth bust, type 3a, no inner circles either side, mintmark tun, large tun on obverse, small on reverse, bust left with double arched crown, value behind, reads CAROLVS DG MA BR FR ET HI. Rev, oval garnished shield, reads CHRISTO AVSPICE REGNO, 3.40g (S.2813; N.2241; Brooker cf. 622). Well struck on a slightly irregular flan, dusky grey tone with clear legends both sides. Despite a soft strike the portrait showing impressive detail, the obverse mintmark well defined. Very fine.
