MYSIA, Cyzicus. Commodus. AD 177-192. Æ (43mm, 29.23 g, 5h). Homonoia with Smyrna. Struck circa AD 180-182. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust left, seen from the front / Demeter advancing left, holding torch in each hand; between the two Nemeses of Smyrna; on left, she holds a scepter, wheel at her feet, on right, she holds a cubit rule and bridle. RPC IV.2 Online 2909 = Franke & Nollé 1042. Black patina, smoothed and tooled. Fine. Extremely rare, only one known to RPC, possibly the second known. A large and impressive provincial bronze.
