GERMANY, Sachsen-Gotha-Altenburg. temp. Friedrich II. 1691-1732. AR Hahnreimedaille' (Cuckold Medal) (34.5mm, 14.28 g, 12h). 'Hahnrei' (Cuckold) type. Unsigned, but by Christian Wermuth. Undated, but struck circa 1700. Ich trage die Hörrner, daß Jedermann schaut, ein ander tragt solche der es nicht traut in Fraktur, twelve-point buck standing slightly left on grassy hillock; in exergue, the sign of cuckolding flanked by ANNO MUNDI / Vom/Hahnreÿ nur nit/SCOPTICE/Denn diß ist QUAM/VERISSIME/Daß viehle durch die CORNUA,/Sind kom(men) AD/OFFICIA in nine lines in Fraktur and Latin.
