Green patina, minor roughness and deposits, missing the tall plumes above the lotus. Otherwise, about as made. Website shipping rates do not apply.

Ex Helios Gallery E30 (7 September 2020); Jack Webb Collection, London, purchased from Puttick & Simpson Auctioneers, 23 August 1966.

According to Egyptian mythology, at the creation of the world Nefertum was originally a lotus flower who had arisen from the primal waters within an Egyptian water-lily, Nymphaea caerulea. Representing both the pleasant aroma of the sacred Egyptian blue lotus flower and the first sunlight, Nefertum was a god of perfume and aromatherapy and also of the rising sun.
