Calabria, Tarentum AR Nomos. Circa 290-281 BC. Warrior wearing crested helmet, holding two spears in right hand and shield adorned with dolphin on left arm, on horse rearing to left; A-Ξ-A in upper fields, AΠH below / Taras astride dolphin to left, right hand resting on dorsal fin, cradling distaff in left arm; COI to left, ornate trident head downward to right, TAPAΣ below. Good Extremely Fine; lustrous metal under old collection tone. Very Rare; described in Nomos 1 as "one of the finest early 3rd century Tarentine staters in existence".
