France, First Empire. Napoléon I Æ Medal. Commmorating the Imperial Guard's burning of its flags. Dated April 1814. Dies by Brenet; Denon, mintmaster. NAPOLEON EMP. ET ROI., bust to right, wearing military uniform; BRENET F. below truncation / Two grenadiers kneeling, burning their flags and collecting the ashes, while behind them one grenadier hands an eagle he has just broken to another; BRENET F. to lower left and DENON D. to lower right, AVRIL MDCCCXIV. in exergue. Bramsen 1408. 34.58g, 40mm, 12h.
