NAPOLEON EMPEREUR, laureate head to right; JE DESIRE QUE MES CENDRES REPOSENT SUR LES RIVERS DE LA SEINE AU MILIEU DE CE PEUPLE QUE J'AI TANT AIMÉ in five lines below / Personification of France standing to right, holding out palm and laurel branches to troops ascending staircase on right, carrying a coffin; warship in background to right, the Invalides to left, eagle flying to right and carrying Napoléon above; MONTAGNY on ground line to right, 1840 in exergue.
