Philip IV gold Cob 2 Escudos 1664 NR-R AU53 NGC, Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino mint, KM4.1 (Rare), Cal-Unl., cf. Restrepo-M50.25 (this date unlisted), Oro Macuquino-Unl., ORC-Unl. 6.79gm. By all indications a largely unpublished date within this series, and seemingly the latest recorded 2 Escudos of Philip's reign from Nuevo Reino, although the Standard Catalog supposedly reports a 1665. Absent from such major collections as Norweb, Lasser, and Eldorado, we are aware of only one other specimen possibly from this same date--Heritage Auction #3006, September 2009, Lot 20696--although this is likely the only clearly dated survivor available to commerce. Undoubtedly of the utmost importance to Colombian collectors, and an offering worthy of the closest bidder attention.
