Colombia
Philip V gold Cob Escudo 173(2)-M MS62 NGC, Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino mint, KM22, Cal-1776, Oro Macuquino-180 (this coin), cf. Restrepo-M78.12 (this date not listed). 3.38gm. Of unusually fine quality for the denomination, particularly as an emission from Colombia. Clearly more carefully produced than are most, the obverse shows both careful engraving and centering, while the reverse was clearly executed from a heavily polished die. Though the final digit of the date is unclear, we would note that Tauler Fesser describes this coin as 1732 in his Oro Macuquino--a date which is unrecorded by Restrepo.
