Charles & Johanna "Late Series" 4 Reales ND (1554-1556) Mo-O MS62 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM0018, Cal-138, Nesmith-110b. 13.68gm. A brilliant, if unevenly struck, example of this final assayer for Charles and Johanna's Mexican coinage, presently standing undisputed as the single finest certified at NGC, and one of only 2 Mint State-graded examples at that service. Imbued with touches of iridescent tone around the raised features on the obverse--hardly usual for these often slate-gray issues--the piece immediately strikes the viewer by virtue of its lustrous finish.
