Sombrerete de Vargas. Ferdinand VII "Royalist" 8 Reales 1810 VF30 NGC, Sombrerete mint, KM176, Cal-1424, Ramírez-S8.0.1 (R6). Royalist coinage of General Fernando Vargas. The sough-after first year of the issue, bearing clear countermarks and a mostly free of adjustment marks flan. An incredibly challenging issue that almost universally unavailable in better grades, we would note that, for the sake of comparison, the Millennia example only certified at XF40, still remaining the finest yet seen by NGC. This is only the second example we have handled, with the last bringing $3525 in January 2013.
