Philip II Real ND (1568-1570) P-R VF Details (Holed) NGC, Lima mint, KM-Unl., Cal-Unl., Burzio-Unl., Grunthal/Sellschopp-Unl., cf. VQR-7497 (listed as pellet between P and PLVS), Sellschopp-9 (same). Alonso de Rincón as assayer. P - LV - S variety, with P above and pellet below. A most covetable early issue from this famous first assayer of the Lima mint, displaying admirable centering and ample remnant detail. While the noted hole obscures a small section of legend, this does little to detract from the overall appeal of the specimen at hand. Most notably, this variety appears to be entirely unpublished in the standard literature, only Sellschopp and a piece in the Vidal Quadras y Ramón Collection recording a PLVS variety without the VLTRA, and both of those with the pellet (denomination) between the P (mintmark) and LV of PLVS.
