Charles & Johanna (1516-1556) gold Escudo ND (from 1543) S-(star) XF Details (Scratches) NGC, Seville mint, Cal-196, Cay-3146, Oro Macuquino-24c. 3.34gm. Variety with KAROLVS spelling and reverse legend ending SICILI. Very unevenly struck, though still admitting trace amounts of die polish in the recesses of the obverse designs and the reverse margins. Notable as a representative that contains virtually complete legends, hardly the norm for many of these issues.
