Philip II gold Cob 4 Escudos ND (1566-1587) S-D AU58 NGC, Seville mint, Cal-887, Cay-4143, Oro Macuquino-11a. 13.52gm. Variety with DRI GRATIA spelling. Strikingly attractive for this early Spanish 4 Escudos, featuring a comparatively rather ideal centering to the strike, and far more of the margins visible than on most survivors. Though traces of a minor die shift can be observed to the obverse, with the second letter of DEI mostly off-flan, comparison with the plate coin in Oro Macuquino suggests strongly that this is the DRI GRATIA error.
