One of only a very small number of firmly datable 1592 Sevillian 4 Escudos we have been able to locate coming to auction in recent decades, and just the second specimen we have had the privilege to offer. Remarkable for its clear date, mintmark, and assayer's initial, this piece generally admits only light evidence of circulation and isolated areas of striking weakness.
