George I (1714-1727), 'South Sea Company', Halfcrown, 1723 DECIMO, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, SSC in angles, seven strings to harp, lettered edge, 15.01g, 6h (Bull 1557; ESC 592; Spink 3643), a flaw on chin and in first quarter of revese, and softness of strike to REX, otherwise handsomely toned, extremely fine or very near so.
Bull 1558 gives NNO for ANNO on edge. On this coin when viewed straight on the first A of ANNO is not visible, but when viewed at an angle the first A is very faintly visible over the punctuation point in front of NNO. It is possible all Bull 1558 are in fact struck like this.
Estimate: £800.00 - £1,200.00
