One of the more difficult dates in the Australian shield series, the 1887 Melbourne has been given an R3 rating by Marsh and is much rarer than the mintage would suggest.
Young head left, WW on truncation; date below; VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. / Crowned shield within wreath; mintmark M and national emblems below; BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:. Edge milled.
