Domitia, wife of Domitian (died 150 AD). AE 14.4 mm. Philadelphia mint, Lydia. Obv. ΔOMITI[A AYΓOYCT]A. Draped bust right. Rev. ЄΠI ΛAΓЄTA ΦIΛAΔЄΛΦЄωN. Grape bunch. RPC II, 1336; SNG Cop. 379. AE. 2.58 g. 14.50 mm. RR. Very rare. Earthen dark green patina. VF. Domitia Longina was the daughter of the great general Cn. Domitius Corbulo. She married the young Domitian in 70 AD, and after his accession to the imperial throne was honored with a Greek Imperial coinage greater in extent than any other empress up to her time. She was implicated in the plot which led to her husband's assassination in 96 AD, after which she retired into private life, surviving until the reign of Antoninus Pius. (D.R.
