ARABIA, Southern. Saba'. 1st century AD. AR gms – Half Unit (18mm, 2.75 g, 4h). Imitating Athens 'New Style' coinage, but with Roman-style bust. Roman style laureate head left; g (mark of value, in South Arabian) to right; all within wreath / Owl standing right, head facing, on amphora; monogram to left, monogram and curved symbol of Almaqah to right; all within fillet border. CAF 1.16ii, pl. XLIV, 35–6 (same dies); cf. Huth 294 (head right, no mark of value); SNG ANS 1495–6 var. (no mark of value). Deeply toned, area of weak strike. Near VF. Rare.
