Cadogan Place, AR medal, 1819, by Thomas & James Phipps II, London, within wreath CADOGAN PLACE 1819, rev. globe and compass within Garter, 49mm, 17.70g, lustrous and pleasingly toned, with suspension loop, good very fine.
The medal probably commemorates the development of Cadogan Place within an area known as 'Hans Town' in 1819. The land came into the possession of Earl Cadogan via his marriage to one of Sir Hans Sloane daughters, whom the area was named after.
