Rx: MEΣΣAΛI - NA - KAIΣ - ΣEBA[Σ] Messalina, veiled, standing l., leaning on column and holding two small figures in r. hand and two wheat ears in l. arm. The two figures Messalina holds apparently represent Britannicus and Octavia, the two children she bore to Claudius. Ex Berk 82, 18 July 1994, lot 740.This is the only image of the wife of Claudius whom he had executed for infidelity. . EF
